Tipping & Etiquette

Recommendation: Tipping is not customary in Taiwan. 10% service charge is billed automatically in upscale restaurants. Tipping is not practiced in taxis or night markets.

Power Sockets & Tap Water

Plug Type & Electricity: Type A & B (110V, 60Hz). US 2-pin flat adapter required.

Tap Water: Boiling tap water is recommended. Free clean drinking water dispensers are ubiquitous in all MRT stations and hotels.

Insider Tip: Eating, drinking (even water), and chewing gum past the yellow line in MRT stations is strictly prohibited (fines up to 7,500 NT$!).
