Power Sockets & Tap Water

Plug Type & Electricity: Type A & C (220V, 60Hz – many wall outlets accept both flat US pins and round European Europlugs).

Tap Water: Tap water is not safe to drink in Peru. Use only boiled or sealed bottled water, including for brushing teeth.

Insider Tip: When traveling to the Andes (Cusco, Lake Titicaca), altitude sickness (Soroche) is common. Take it easy the first 2 days, stay hydrated, avoid alcohol, and try traditional Mate de Coca tea.
